There is a lot to learn when you first start learning yoga, from breathing to body placement, even the names of the yoga positions you are attempting can be confusing, but once you really get into it, those names will be second nature to you. Despite the initial confusing stage, practicing yoga regularly will help you build a stronger, leaner body.
You Don’t Have to be an Expert
Yoga positions are great because anyone from kids to pregnant women to people in physical therapy can perform them. Performing some yoga positions can even improve recovery times. The Rabbit Pose is a popular yoga position among beginners. It helps alleviate back and neck pain as well as headaches.
Beginners will also find the Birds Wing pose helpful, but this is actually a yoga posture that is good for intermediate and expert practitioners as well. As you get stronger and more flexible, you can move into several other poses including the Happy Baby, Standing Yoga Mudra, and Cobra pushup.
Yoga pregnancy postures improve your health, flexibility, and balance, but they also help you find your inner calm and handle stress better. You need to be realistic about your expectations though. You aren’t going to see results as soon as you start doing yoga positions. It will take time to see the full benefits.
Even though performing yoga pregnancy postures is not a high impact exercise, it does work your body pretty hard. You have to be careful not to push yourself to hard and cause injury.
Also, be prepared to find that the yoga pregnancy postures you will be practicing are often far removed from what you see on TV and you may not have to contort your body and squirm about because you should not do anything that is uncomfortable to you since that could result in injuries and also remember to change postures at a comfortable pace thereby not stressing your muscles beyond their capabilities.
It may be better to practice yoga pregnancy postures under the guidance of a yoga instructor and though there are certainly many self teaching aids available, an instructor who is knowledgeable will be able to assess the level of your skills and thus advice you to perform only those postures that you are capable of performing.
