What Bikram Poses are Right for You?Posted by Yogi in Yoga Poses | no responses

Yoga is basically the discipline of uniting body, mind and spirit through a series of Bikram poses that are also known as asanas. These asanas were developed centuries ago, and each position has its benefit over a specific part of the body. Some of these positions will enhance flexibility, others are meant for balance, and still others will concentrate on strength. When you combine several Bikram poses, you can work your entire body which improves your overall fitness, flexibility, and strength. But, it’s not just your body that benefits. If done correctly, yoga should help you handle stress, focus, and concentrate better.
Warming Up and Cooling Down
The first Bikram poses you’ll need to learn are the ones that you use at the start and end of your session. The warm-up poses that you select will vary based on the type of yoga program that you will be doing and where you will focus most of your positions. Warming up is important any time you work out, and yoga is no different. You want to make sure your muscles and joints are warmed up in order to prevent injury while doing Bikram poses. Complete your workout with some cool-down Bikram poses. Your mind and body will benefit from the deep relaxation you’ll feel from your cool-down.
Different Posing Positions
There are several different kinds of Bikram poses to choose from when planning your workout. Some of these are done in a standing position, which can help to align your body properly as they promote strength and flexibility. You can improve your posture by doing standing Bikram poses. You can perform seated positions when you are ready to relax, center yourself, and meditate. There are also twisted Bikram poses that you can do. By performing twisted Bikram poses, you can strengthen your back muscles and abs, even aid in digestion. Keep in mind that any type of twisting that is done in your yoga pose should be slow and fluid.   You may hurt yourself if you make quick, jerking movements.
In addition to the Bikram poses listed here, there are many other types of positions that you can try as well. Seek help from a professional yoga instructor if you are just starting to learn yoga. Once you have a basic knowledge of how to perform the different Bikram poses, you can begin to enjoy your yoga workouts from the privacy of your own home.
