Suzanne Deason: Easy Yoga ReviewPosted by Yogi in Yoga Product Reviews | one response

This DVD is the exact same as “GENLTLE YOGA” by Suzanne Deason that I looked for. It is short enough (less than 30 min) that I can fit it into most any day. It is great for stretching the whole body. If you are new to yoga, I would definitely recommend this to you. It is done in a very relaxed manner in a beautiful setting with calming background music. A yoga strap and brick definitely come in handy.
To see how more difficult yoga poses and stretches can be modified for the beginner, get “Yoga for Weight Loss” also by Suzanne Deason. The title is a little off-putting but the DVD is great for conditioning for any level because in that DVD she has two other people with REAL women’s bodies, helping to show various modifications of the more difficult poses.
Instructor Suzanne Deason has a very soothing voice, nice for relaxing with yoga. She goes through several easy, yet intense stretches, using a strap to help pull the leg closer for a deeper stretch. The workout comes in about 30 minutes, but there is a point in the workout (after about 17 minutes) where she has just finished some standing stretches, then pauses and says “nama stay” — then moves on to floor stretches. This is an excellent stopping point for a shorter stretch … or you can continue to the floor for even deeper back and leg stretches. Between the gentle ocean waves in the background, the quiet piano music, and Suzanne’s soothing voice, this is a very relaxing yoga stretch.

I am a yoga beginner practicing with a yogi. Anyone serious about yoga will know that you NEVER hyper extend your knees, which Suzanne Deason does. One might allege she started her career in aerobics in the 80’s rather than studied with a yogi and jumped on the yoga bandwagon without any real study.
